Two years ago, Pavitra entered the Wonder Women Program (WWP) through a Child Care Institution (CCI) called Auxilium. After completing her 12th grade & 11 months of cabin crew training she was filled with anxiety and uncertainty.
Raised in a highly protected environment where most decisions were made for her, she suddenly had to face the world on her own — without a roadmap or the everyday experience of making independent choices. Turning 18 meant she had to leave the CCI, a bittersweet moment that brought both hope and fear. Yet, through all the confusion, Pavitra held onto one clear dream: she wanted to continue her education and take charge of her future.
A Brave Beginning
At the time, Pavitra was working part-time night shifts at McDonalds and couldn’t afford to take leave. Determined not to miss the opportunity, she requested her manager to allow her to take the WWP selection interview from the restroom during her shift. Her courage and commitment shone through, and she was selected.
Academic and Career Achievements
Through WWP’s support, Pavitra enrolled in Karnataka State Open University and recently graduated with flying colors — securing 73% in BA. She now plans to pursue an MBA with HR specialisation. Today, she is employed as ground staff at the airport, earning a stable income and living independently in a rented home. She now takes care of her mentally unwell mother, something she once feared she would never be able to do. Despite long 10-hour shifts and financial challenges Pavitra continues to move forward with courage, discipline, and quiet determination.
Why Pavitra’s Story Matters
Pavitra’s journey is about more than just education or employment. It’s about reclaiming agency, rebuilding identity, and redefining what’s possible. From a young girl with doubts to a young woman with purpose, Pavitra is proof that with the right support and the will to grow, transformation is possible. WWP is proud to have walked beside her on this journey — and will continue to cheer her on as she writes the next chapter of her inspiring story.
Her Words
"I don’t know what I would have done if I wasn’t a fellow at WWP. It changed my entire outlook. From worrying about where I’ll live to now living independently, earning, and taking care of my mother — I’ve made it here. I now think about savings, my career, and my next step. Thank you, WWP, for making this possible."
